About
Jonathan Blank is a B2B Conversationalist, helping companies build communities of clients and advocates using the social Web. He serves as an Account Manager at Makovsky + Company Public Relations. Jonathan brings together corporate and agency PR experience, skills in marketing and public relations, and insights into traditional and social media.
Jonathan has been interested in how community members connect and act together since he attended Cornell University and studied psychology and sociology while obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations. This particular degree helped Jonathan make comparisons between the “social contract” of a workforce and the promises made by brands every time they interact with clients and prospects. After matriculating in 2004, Jonathan came to New York City and embarked on a career in public relations with a specialty in social media. Since than Jonathan has seen the marketing and communications world from the perspective of a corporation and from an agency. New York also introduced Jonathan to his night and weekend love, improv comedy. Jonathan has studied improv comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and founded the troupe the Sample Platter.
He decided to launch b2bcoffeeshops.com after realizing most of the prominent social media blogs focus on business to consumer company case studies. In contrast, b2bcoffeeshops.com is a place for B2B marketing and public relations professionals to drop in and discuss the affects of the changing communications landscape on their side of the world.
His advice on using storytelling for professional gain was published in an article in Personal Branding Magazine called “Story time for the Millennials.” In all, Jonathan prides himself on being a good storyteller – whether he is pitching a story to the press, counseling marketers on the rise of social media or performing an improv scene.
Jonathan thinks Prince is a better singer than Steve Perry and prefers classic art to modern art. He also thinks one of the greatest virtues is “to have something to say and say it.” So join in the conversation on the blog or email Jonathan and together we will have something to say.
